An introduction to Brainspotting

When:  Jul 5, 2024 from 13:00 to 14:00 (AEDT)

Brainspotting is a powerful brain-based approach to psychotherapy that helps access unprocessed trauma in the client’s subcortical brain. Brainspotting allows the therapist to locate points (“Brainspots”) in the client’ s visual field through specific eye positions around which subcortical brain activity organises. Its goal is to bypass the thinking neocortical part of the brain in order to access the deeper emotional and body-based parts of the brain.

With focus and precision, Brainspotting is particularly effective in helping to identify and heal underlying trauma that contributes to anxiety, depression, and other behavioural conditions. It can also help to strengthen resilience, used with performance and creativity enhancement, and can be integrated with many other therapeutic modalities. Since discovery in 2003 by Dr David Grand, a New York psychotherapist with a special interest in treating trauma, over 30,000 therapists around the world have been trained in Brainspotting.

In this one-hour webinar you will learn how Brainspotting activates and accesses specific areas of the midbrain that allow for the reprocessing and releasing of core neurophysiological reactions to trauma-related and other psychological experiences. You will also hear about the discovery and neuroscience behind this therapy, and there will be a live demonstration of a technique you will be able to bring to your clients in your clinical practice.

Please note, this webinar will not be recorded or available ‘on-demand’ after the live webinar
