Following on from the foundational webinar Is It Emotional Abuse?, this advanced session takes a deeper dive into the complex and often hidden dynamics of emotionally abusive relationships - and the critical role psychologists can play in supporting clients throughout their journey.
While identifying emotional abuse is essential, knowing how to support a client effectively at various stages of awareness, readiness, and recovery is equally important. This webinar will expand on the 3Ds model - Disrespect, Distort, and Disempower - and explore the cumulative toll of abuse on the mind and body.
We will focus on what is essential in therapeutic work with clients who may still be confused or unaware of the abuse, are contemplating leaving but feel stuck, or are navigating the aftermath of separation. We’ll also explore post-separation abuse - the continuation of emotional abuse through legal, financial, and co-parenting channels - and provide practical strategies for supporting clients during this period of heightened vulnerability.
