Working in schools under the new Code of Conduct

This 90-minute presentation will focus on implications the introduction of the Code of Conduct for Psychologists coming into effect on 1 December 2025 may have for psychologists working in Schools.
 
Amanda Curran, Cassandra Best and Daniela McCann will discuss:

  • Common scenarios experienced by school psychologists
  • Developing a learning plan that supports you working safely & effectively under the Code

About our presenters:  Amanda Curran, Cassandra Best and Daniela McCann

Amanda Curran is AAPi's Chief Psychologist and has been a registered psychologist since 2000. Amanda has experience in a variety of areas including; residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation, Drug Diversion Programs, inpatient psychiatric treatment (including long term residential care prior to project 300), university counselling, employee assistance programs and family and relationship counselling. Amanda has a love for learning that led her to complete a Master of Health Studies majoring in addictions in 2009.

 

Cassandra Best has been a Psychologist for over 22 years, starting her career as a School Psychologist for the Department of Education before taking a huge left turn after 5 years and accepting a position as the only Psychologist at a Rehabilitation Centre for young adults with an acquired brain injury in Perth.

Cassandra returned to the School Psychology Service in 2014, whilst also working part time in her own private practice - Best Psychology Services. Since returning to the SPS, Cassandra has held a number of roles, and since 2022 has been employed as a School Psychologist Consultant in the Office of the Chief Psychologist with the main role being workforce capability. 

 

Daniela McCann was a School Counsellor in NSW Public Schools, and prior to that a teacher, before moving into private practice. In her almost 20 years with the NSW Department of Education, Daniela worked with children and young people from three years old, up to the end of high school, in both mainstream and special education settings, including Juvenile Justice. 

Daniela completed a Masters of Special Education in 2006, just before participating in a scholarship program to become a School Counsellor and is currently completing a Masters in Educational and Developmental Psychology. Now in private practice in northern NSW, Daniela sees children from as young as 18 months old, up to young adults in their early 20s, and completes many diagnostic investigations into behaviours of concern so that the right support can be provided at home and at school, for each client.
