The NSW Government has recently introduced a new Community Services Industry portable long service leave scheme which is mandatory for eligible employers in NSW.
Long service leave is an additional period of paid leave that workers may be entitled to after working for a company for a certain number of years. However, many workers in the community services industry work for different employers and don’t always have 10 years of service with 1 employer to qualify for long service leave.
The NSW Government is addressing this issue by bringing in the portable long service leave scheme, known as the Community Services Industry (CSI) scheme. The Act was written with a broad scope with the intent that the scheme would be available to as many community service workers as possible.
This webinar will help provide employers in the community services industry with the information they need to understand their obligations.
Topics covered will include:
- An overview of the Community Services Industry (CSI) scheme
- Eligibility for workers and for community service employers
- Registration and tracking the service of workers
- April 2026 reporting
- Compliance
- Where to access additional resources
